The 2006 Ray Kingsmith Award recipient is Judy Bailey.
Whether she is emailing, writing up letters,
coordinating drivers or coordinating fellow committee
members, you will surely find Judy Bailey volunteering
her time on behalf of women’s curling. Judy has been a
dedicated competitor and supporter for over 25 years.
Events such as this Autumn Gold are made possible by the
commitment of volunteers like Judy – often at the
expense of her own summer.
Over the years, Judy has volunteered for the Autumn
Gold, Curl for the Cure, the Scott and the Brier. Judy
has put in tireless hours heading the transportation
committee – a job that requires non-stop, hands on
effort to make sure the players get to and from the rink
safely and on time. She has often volunteered to drive
teams herself.
Judy then moved over to work on the sponsorship
committee. Her attention to detail and her tenacity has
helped make this the great event it is today. The Autumn
Gold continues to grow and evolve, largely because of
Judy’s determination and her belief that "Good isn’t
good enough" for this event. Judy, thank you so much.
Judy has come through a lot in her personal life, and
has overcome knee surgery to return to curling. After
all this, she still has the time and strength to support
her team mates. She has even demonstrated her artistic
skills, as she has taken all the team photos for Curl
for a Cure for the last 3 years. Anyone who can make us
look good has real talent.
Judy’s devotion to the game and unbelievable
organizational skills make her a model for us all.
Congratulations Judy on winning the Ray Kingsmith award.
