The purpose of the is to recognize an individual for her “outstanding” contributions to women's curling. The 2008 Award recipient is . Marg has been involved in the Autumn Gold Classic since its inception, assisting with donations and sponsors and Chairing the Ray Kingsmith Award for the past 20 years.
Marg has spent over 30 years involved in the Calgary Curling Community. She has participated as a curler, spending many years in ladies playdowns reaching the Southern and Provincial level with skips such as Liz Connellan and Marilyn McNeil. This involved a very busy curling career which included many cash spiels, super leagues and those dreaded practises. During this time she also managed to raise two wonderful children and support her husband in his work and curling career.
After Marg's competitive days of curling ... the volunteering started. She has worked feverishly on Briers, Scott Tournament of Hearts and any other major curling event held in Calgary . Never a hesitation when asked to work or chair a committee.
Marg is an avid golfer and member for many years at Cottonwood Golf Course. She has had at least 2 Holes-in-One and supports her golf course just like the curling community.
Her career has involved working with children, days at Josten's organizing school pictures, and later with Theatre Calgary, working with school boards and principals, getting children to visit the theatre for many performances to show them the culture of arts and entertainment.
Congratulations Marg on winning the 2008 Ray Kingsmith Memorial Award. Ray would have been proud!
